Reversing the trend - TrawsCymru and congestion busting

Open to all

Professor Stuart Cole CBE

As transport in Wales is devolved to Welsh Government the provision of bus services differs in several significant ways from that in England. Prof Stuart Cole brings us a useful insight into current developments in Wales.

He will address the challenges and solutions facing buses in Wales. He will explain how/why TrawsCymru was set up and how it had succeeded in increasing demand significantly. He will also talk about how reducing congestion will do likewise. On the other side of the coin is the eight-year saga of Cardiff Bus Station, a sorry example of what not to do.

Prof Cole is Emeritus Professor of Transport at the University of South Wales. He is acknowledged by the UK Parliament, the National Assembly and Government as one of Wales’ and UK’s leading experts in transport economics and policy.

He has nearly 40 years of experience spanning local government, private sector and academic roles.
