50 years since the merger of Todmorden JOC with Halifax JOC.

Saturday 21st August 2021:

Tour of former Todmorden JOC routes using a preserved bus (Halifax 35) to celebrate 50 years since Todmorden ceased operations and routes and vehicles passed to the Calderdale JOC. We plan to follow the route taken when the Halifax & District Road Transport Study group held a farewell tour on Sunday 25th July 1971.

The tour will start from Winding Road in Halifax at 10:30 on Saturday 21st August and follow the Calder valley to Todmorden. From there we will experience the short route to Cross Lee Estate and back and then follow the main road to Burnley via Cliviger and Towneley.

At Burnley a lunch break will be taken before setting off for Bacup.

From there we will follow the route over Sharneyford to Walsden and then continue to Summit where we turn around and head back to Walsden. The bus will then climb the hill to Lumbutts and Mankinholes before again turning round to retrace our route back to Walsden and on to Todmorden.

The final section of the tour will take us back along the Calder Valley to Hebden Bridge from whence we will follow the route to Old Town, over Cockhill to Oxenhope and on to Crossroads where we will turn right to Denholme and return to Halifax .

We suggest participants bring a Hi Viz jacket and a face covering
