ALAN MILLS 1931-2017
Our former Chairman and Midland Branch member for over 66 years, Alan Mills, died on 31st January, after a short illness, just days after his 86th birthday.
Alan’s funeral will be held at 1115 on Tuesday, 21st February 2017 at St. Martin’s Church, Sutton Road, Walsall (actual address: 1 Daffodil Road, Walsall, WS5 3DQ).
Soon after noon there will be a 10-minute Committal at the nearby Streetly Crematorium, Little Hardwick Road (near Aldridge), WS9 0SG.
There will then be a Wake, by kind permission of the Mills’ family, at Calderfields Golf & Country Club, Aldridge Road, WS4 2JS.
The Society has organised a bus to run direct from Birmingham to the church as follows:
From: Outside the New Alexandra Theatre, Suffolk Street Queensway, Birmingham, B5 4DS.
Departs: 1010 hours
The location for departure is close to New Street Station. Directions:
Exit New Street Station by the south exit (Station Street) – this is diametrically opposite the direction for the Stephenson Place/Trams exit! From the south exit descending staircase walk straight ahead to (the south section of) Station Street. Navigate around the New Alexandra Theatre to its front, facing Suffolk Street Queensway.
After the church service, the bus will run to Calderfields, then return to Birmingham by 1700h.
Parking at the church will be difficult – so please use our bus.
Let’s give Alan a good send-off for all that he has contributed for our benefit over many decades.
