Geoff Lusher

Geoff Lusher is Chairman of The Midland Branch having joined The Omnibus Society in 1966.   

Geoff’s whole working life has been in public transport having worked in senior positions in the former National Bus Company subsidiaries at Bristol, Oxford and Maidstone. He moved to West Midlands in 1974 becoming Divisional Manager for the North Division of West Midlands Passenger Executive with responsibility for the Black Country and southern Staffordshire. On the formation of West Midlands Travel Ltd. in 1986, he moved to a similar role in East Birmingham and Solihull.

In 1997, Geoff was appointed the initial General Manager for the operator of Midland Metro, National Express. He joined the board of concessionaire Altram, the DBOM Joint Venture, and represented the operator throughout the construction and commissioning stages of the light rail system. Successful introduction took place in 1999 and Geoff continued to steer Midland Metro through its demanding early years until retirement in 2003.

Geoff joined the Board of PreMetro Operations Ltd. in 2002 and is currently Chairman of the Company providing the light rail service between Stourbridge Junction and Stourbridge Town.

Geoff is a Fellow of The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, former Chairman of the Light Rail Transit Association and former Chairman of both the Fixed Track Section and the Midland Region of the Confederation of Passenger Transport. He is a life-long member of The Great Western Society and The Old Bristolians Society.
